Have your say on Dorset's Cycle Network.
Dorset County Council is keen to encourage people to cycle more often by making it easier and safer to reach key destinations by bicycle. To achieve this goal they want to define a county wide cycle network and delivery plan for future routes and improvements. This is where they need our help; they would like to know where you would like to see new cycle routes in your area.
So click on this link....
DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL
And you can submit your ideas for a cycle route you would like to ride on! Don't sit back on this, the cut off date is mid February and its not often that the council ask! |
Have you checked out the Trek and Giant pages recently?
We have just begun to put all our stock bikes on this site, so you can see what we have and how much from the comfort of your armchair, kitchen table etc!
All the Trek bikes are now on there, and Giant is almost there. Specials, one offs and second hand bikes to follow (it takes a lot of time!)
If you click on most of the pics they will take you to the manufacturers sites where there is even more information.
The Sale bikes are one offs and once they have gone....
Keep checking back as we add more info!

Win a bike with a £2 raffle ticket!
Support the Maiden Newton-Bridport Trailway, and you could win a Enigma Ethos road bike (similiar to the one in the picture). Or if you prefer, £2000 cash.
British made, the Enigma Ethos comes with a Campagnolo 10-speed groupset, plus hand-built wheels. It’s lightweight and very fast.
Local cyclist George Sartin rode Lands End to John ‘O Groats on this bike, and is delighted with it. If it doesn’t fit, the winner can choose any bike from the Enigma range of equivalent value, made to measure.
Plus there are three runners-up prizes of £500 vouchers, donated by cycle shops Dorchester Cycles, Rock & Road of Yeovil, and Revolutions of Bridport. There’s also a £200 voucher up for grabs from Too Tyred of Sherborne.
We have raffle tickets on sale now, but hurry...the draw is on January 30th!

Dorchester Car Parking
You may have seen the new meters or heard of Dorchesters new on street car parking charges. Park outside our shop and its 40p for half an hour or 60 pence for an hour. Thats if the machine works! (when it rains the paper 'cockles up' inside and won't print!)
To avoid this charge why not use our car park? Its next to Car Radios Dorchester (our next door neighbour!) They use the side and our car park is across the back. There is a sign.
If you feel as strongly about these ridiculous parking charges do let your local councillor know, they voted this in and they have the power to change it! |

What a great ride!
Apart from the wet bits it was a great days ride! We had a great send off from our Town Crier Alistair Chisholm and it took the estimated 225 - 250 cyclists almost 2 minutes to stream out of the car park and off through the town.
After 47.5 miles of cycling (and i am sure many pub/tea shop stops!) the finishers all received a certificate from Anne and Peter at the finish!
I have uploaded the pics i took into a Flickr account so that you can have a look! Just click on the logo below!

If you have any pics you would like to share, email them to me and i will upload them.
A big thanks to everyone who helped make the day run so well, and also to all the particpants for making it a fun day, see you on June 6th 2010 for the 31st Great Dorset Bike Ride!

Dorchester Cycles is proud to announce the long awaited launch of their new web site. We have employed a state-of-the art content management system that allows us to keep our visitors up to date with ease. Watch out for late-breaking news and informative articles as they come in.
Our customers are invitied to send us their cycling news and views - we are developing a community section of this site to act as a gateway to articles of local and national interest to our customers. Use our contact page to send us anything you think may be of interest to the cycling community.
Please be aware that this is a work in progress! Some of the articles will change and any bugs ironed out! We felt that we would rather launch now with the site as is, rather than waiting another month! |
